The course is
home to the annual Buick International. One of the few municipally owned
courses on the PGA. Can be booked for a fairly modest fee.
Beach: Blacks
beach is very secluded, with difficult access because of the height
of the sandstone bluffs. "Farms" residents have their own key to a
private access gate. Well known for "optional clothing".
Excellent surfing.

Beach:
The flattest and safest beach in La Jolla. Popular with swimmers, surfers,
scuba divers, picnickers and volleyball, along with the only beachfront boat
launch within San Diego City limits.
Homes:
Subdivided and developed shortly after 1900, there
are no large subdivisions in the "Shores", the homes are mostly custom.
The first non-residential project
was Scripps Institute of Oceanography followed by what's now called the La
Jolla Beach & Tennis Club.
Homes:
there are about 1,000 homes and
condos, plus a few apartment buildings.
Single
family detached.
Mainly built in the
50's and 60's. Prices for a 2/3 bedroom 2 bath home near the beach from
$850,000.
Most of the homes on the hill
(Prestwick, Calle
Del Oro etc) have superb views
of La Jolla Cove and La Jolla Shores - expect to pay $3,000,000 and up.
Those
immediately on the beach
are multi million(s) dollar homes. The pretty streets adjacent to the beach,
including El Paseo Grande, Paseo Del Ocaso etc are flat with a mix of beach
cottages starting at around $1,200,000 up to newer custom homes in the
$2,000,000 to $5,000,000 range. Those on the beach sell from $6,000,000 and
up.
